STATE PRESERVE
Once connected to Captiva Island, a hurricane in 1921 created Red Fish Pass separating the two islands. North Captiva’s population is centered on the North end of the island with a 350 acre state wildlife preserve separating the North End and the South End. The South End is home to a handful of completely off the grid homes and more pristine untouched beaches.
Walk the state preserve to Red Fish Pass to catch a glimpse of bobcats, coyotes, bald eagles, ospreys, gopher tortoises and so much more!
ISLAND LIFE
The island is known for its laid back style, away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Stop in at Boats and Fun to rent a boat, kayaks, or fat tire bikes to see the island and nature in a whole new way! Boats and Fun also rents and sells fishing poles, bait and tackle. They also have a great gift shop! The island features four restaurants. Stop into Mainstay or Mangos for an afternoon cocktail. Stop by the airstrip to catch a plane coming into the grass airstrip! Truly unique experience. Check out the dolphins swimming around the East end of the airstrip! On the way back to the house, stop at the canal at the corner of Seair to catch a glimpse of manatees sunbathing! When you’re on North Captiva, you’re on island time. Take it easy and enjoy the slow down!
